For riders of all abilities and fitness levels who want a leisurely riding experience with a taste of the wonderful scenery rural New Zealand has to offer and stunning views of the Waikato River.
Start with the gentle paved cycleway from Ngaruawahia to Te Rapa, and then continue onto Hamilton Gardens for some lunch beside the river. If 25km has been enough for you then you can call it a day, otherwise there is another great riding experience about 15 minutes down the road.
The 17 km section of the Te Awa River trail from the Hamilton Velodrome to Karapiro offers an old time back country feel to your ride, including a detour through the quaint main street of Cambridge, and on to the spectacular scenic outlook at Might River Domain at Karapiro. (Maybe a short stop at the iconic ice-cream shop just before Karapiro is on the cards as well).
